Getting started

Set your availability

Tell your ladder when you usually play, and mark yourself away when you are injured or on vacation.

TennisLadder uses two kinds of availability. Your weekly windows say when you usually like to play. Your status says whether you can take challenges right now.

Set when you can usually play

In the app, go to Me, then Availability.

  1. Tap the chips that fit you, such as "Weekday evenings" or "Sat morning".
  2. For more detail, use the grid of days by morning, afternoon, and evening. Morning is 7:00 to 12:00, afternoon is 12:00 to 17:00, and evening is 17:00 to 22:00.
  3. To set exact hours, tap Set exact days and hours and adjust each day in 30 minute steps.

Your ladder mates see a line on your profile such as "Usually free: weekday evenings, Sat morning". When someone challenges you, the app suggests up to 3 times in the next 10 days when you are both free. Standings also show a small tag, like "Free Sat AM", next to players whose windows overlap yours.

Windows are optional. If you skip them, you still get challenges with a single proposed time.

Mark yourself away

If you are injured, on vacation, or taking a break, change your status:

  1. In the app, go to Me, then Availability. On the website, open your profile.
  2. Choose Injured, Vacation, or Break.
  3. Add a return date and an optional note. Your note is only seen by you and your organizers.

What being away does

  • Nobody can challenge you.
  • You are skipped in monthly matchups and open play.
  • You keep your rank.
  • The challenge clock and the inactivity rule pause.
  • Your ladder mates see "Away until" and your return date.

On your return date, you are set back to Available that morning.
