Create a ladder

Start a ladder for your group in a couple of minutes. It is free for up to 10 players.

Last updated

Any player can start a ladder for friends, coworkers, a club, or a neighborhood. The free plan covers 1 ladder with up to 10 players, and you do not need a credit card.

Create your ladder

In the app, tap Start a ladder on Home or in My ladders. On the website, go to Create a ladder.

  1. Enter a name.
  2. Enter the location as "City, ST".
  3. Choose Singles or Doubles.
  4. Create it.

Your first ladder also creates an organization for you. It holds your ladders, tournaments, and plan.

More options

Open More options to set:

  • A description
  • The ranking system: Leapfrog, Elo, Points, or Win percentage
  • How matches are played (the match format)
  • Whether the ladder is public or private
  • Season dates
  • A home court
  • An entry fee, once payouts are set up for your organization

You can change these later in the ladder's settings.

Set the rules

The Ladder rules screen lets the ladder run itself. Pick a preset, then adjust any rule:

  • Relaxed (the default): challenge up to 4 spots above, answer within 3 days, play within 10 days.
  • Competitive: challenge up to 3 spots above, answer within 2 days or the challenger takes the win, play within 7 days.

Each rule shows the sentence players will see. Changes apply to new challenges only.

Seed the starting order

Place your top players at the top and work down. You can reorder members at any time by dragging or typing a position.

Get help running it

Add ladder managers to help. Each manager uses their own account and gets only the permissions you give them: edit settings, email members, enter scores, manage members, or manage tournaments.

Next step

Now invite your players. See Invite players.
